Curriculum

Our curriculum has been chosen to meet and exceed the standards set in the Texas Education Agency Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum guidelines. These guidelines are the precursor to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills used by all public schools in Texas for Kindergarten through 12th grade. By meeting and exceeding these standards, your child will be well prepared to transition into any school program. FBC Day School uses Horizons Preschool techniques and manipulatives, ABC Jesus Loves Me, Little Hands to Heaven curricula.

3 Year Old Program - Horizons Preschool Curriculum:
Horizons is a brightly illustrated, engaging workbook curriculum filled with consumable lessons and hands-on activities. Designed with fast-paced lessons, this Christian curriculum uses a spiral learning method to help your student master concepts through the process of introduction, review, and reinforcement. This learning method allows students to quickly grasp difficult concepts in a colorful, motivating format.

Kindergarten/1st Grade Program - The Principle Approach / The Noah Plan Curriculum:
FBC Day School provides The Principle Approach to education. The Principle Approach has been called "reflective teaching and learning.” It is America’s historic method of Biblical reasoning which places the Truths (or principles) of God’s Word at the heart of education. Each subject is predicated upon God’s Biblical principles and students are taught to think and reason from principles and leading ideas using The Notebook Method to Research, Reason, Relate and Record.

FBC Day School trusts the knowledge and abilities of our staff and we encourage our teachers to incorporate their own activities into their classroom programs. Teachers are permitted to incorporate outside curriculum and activities, provided they are approved by the FBC Day School and the First Baptist Church of Fair Oaks Ranch administration.

Bible Curriculum:
The Bible Curriculum allows children to learn more about God and his Son, Jesus. We share stories from the Old and New Testaments. The program includes character building lessons to help children learn about things such as: being kind, loving ourselves, others and God, sharing, telling the truth, and thinking of others respectively, and being “good citizens.” FBC Day School also uses a DVD Bible program by “Empowering Kids” which brings Bible teachings to the children in a whole new way. Each of the different series brings Bible stories and lessons to life through songs, pictures, puppet shows and a number of other creative ways. The videos focus on important topics such as “The Fruit of the Spirit” and “Growing Up and Behaving in a Godly Way.” This Bible program is a wonderful companion to our current Biblical Curriculums.
